The district attorney’s report into the Santa Anita situation didn’t find evidence of criminal misconduct (e.g., knowingly forcing injured horses to compete, or drug quantities exceeding the legal limit). So, that is not a good example to use when you are discussing doping horses. Dr. Grossman can talk, in general, about the connection between performance-enhancing drugs and injuries/deaths in horseracing. 1.
