Unedited Paw’d Cast: CBD Oil, When Your Pet Must Go To the ER, Worst Puppy Mills, Best Puppy Training, and Pet Airline Travel Under New Rules

David and Brittany Coursey

Here is the lineup for the Sunday, May 20 edition of KSCO Pet Radio. All times Pacific. Here is a link to the unedited program for May 20, 2018.

12:08 p.m. — “The Horrible Hundred” is a list of America’s worst puppy mills, just published by the Humane Society of the United States. Our friend and puppy mill expert John Goodwin from HSUS will be here to talk about the constant fight against commercial breeders.

12:30 p.m. — Mary Beth Melchior and Bonnie Wagner-Westbrook from Where Is Jack, Inc., experts on pets and airline travel, will be here to tell us how new rules will or perhaps will not screw-up vacation flights this summer. I am not hopeful for happy news.

1:08 p.m. — If someone had told me a month ago that I’d soon be singing the praises of CBD marijuana/hemp oil as a treatment for my 15-year-old Brittany (named) Brittany I’d not have believed them (to say it gently). But now I am and KSCO’s Cannabis Connection’s Christopher Carr will be here to further enlighten me.

1:30 p.m. — When must you take your pet to the emergency vet? Dr. Merrianne Burtch of the BirchBark Foundation and Pacific Veterinary Specialists in Capitola will be here with that answer and offer a warning about the artificial sweetener xylitol that can kill dogs. Here are her blog posts on ER visits and life-threatening substances. Here is the Paw’d Cast of the segment as broadcast.

1:45 p.m.– ACME Canine trainer Laura Pakis will be here talking about puppy training. How soon, how often, how much, what commands, what behaviors, and what to expect from your little one.
