SC Pet-of-the-Week: Leo needs patience and love

LEO – ID #A244619

Leo is shy by nature, but with emerging confidence and trust, he now approaches volunteers for head rubs, treats and play time with his favorite toy. A loud purr echos in his kennel when he anticipates spending time with people he trusts.

Leo has been at the shelter since Jan. 23rd and was surrendered due to his owner moving and not finding pet friendly housing.

Leo has been an indoor cat and has lived with a small dog.

During his time with us, we have seen him come out of his shell but he will still retreat to his quiet cubby when the shelter is noisy. Leo has the potential to become an affectionate and playful kitty but will need a home that can respect his shy nature. Patience, time and a quiet environment will give Leo the space he needs to gain some confidence and become that sweet, gentle companion he can be.

Leo is a neutered male, black with white Domestic Shorthair, apprx. 2 years old.

To Adopt: Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter, 1001 Rodriguez St., Santa Cruz
