Pets-of-the-Week: Cats from Rohnert Park

Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Adoptable Cats

In response to the Kincade fire in Sonoma County, SCCAS worked in collaboration with Rohnert Park Animal Services to take in 12 of their adoptable cats and one senior parakeet so they could free up space to take in fire evacuees and stray animals from the fire.  Our volunteers truly shined in this situation as a volunteer team went up to Sonoma County to transport the animals back to our Shelter and 15 of our own foster families took in 15 of our adoptable cats to free up space in the Shelter to be able to take in the transferred cats. True teamwork and collaboration at its finest!

SCCAS is now asking the community to do their part in this endeavor.

Through November 30, SCCAS is offering a $25 “Pay it Forward” adoption special for cats and kittens. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, fleas/worms treatment, cat carrier and a pet wellness exam with participating veterinarians.

If you are not ready to adopt a cat, please consider “Paying it Forward” to our community’s neediest animals by donating $25 to one of the following funds:

  • Planned Pethood Fund, which funds FREE spay/neuter surgeries
  • Extra Mile Fund, which allows medical rehabilitation for animals beyond what our shelter budget permits
  • Healthy Pets for All Fund, which purchases pet food, pet toys, flea medication and other supplies for underserved animals in the community
  • General Program Donation Fund, which supports animal adoption, animal enrichment and public outreach and education programs

To Adopt: Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter, 1001 Rodriguez St., Santa Cruz
