Josh Balk is a leader in the campaign to stop the extreme overcrowding of laying hens, veal calves, and breeder pigs in California’s factory farms. I don’t normally post interviews a week before they will air, but this is an important exception.
We urgently need signatures to get a referendum on the November ballot to stop the inhumane treatment of these animals. This would be a follow-up to 2008’s Proposition 2, which helped make “cage-free” a term we all know. But that law did not go far enough to protect farm animals. This proposal, if it gets on the ballot, is an opportunity to do better for them.
Josh is an inspirational leader in the humane movement and I am proud to personally endorse this measure in the hope listeners and readers will help collect signatures. They must be mailed April 16. Volunteer on the preventcrueltyca.com site. I will have petitions available at the station during the program. Feel free to stop by.
