We’ve now heard from several reliable sources that all Animal Services positions previously set to be cut have been reinstated. Animal Services will remain at 15.5 full-time TEs and not be reduced to 8 as originally proposed. This won’t be finalized until the budget is passed on June 26, but Animal Services employees received formal notification from Health Department management last night.
Animal Services is underfunded even with these positions, but this is still a good day for the animals and people who care for and about them. I have no doubt that all the efforts to draw attention to this matter had an influence. Thanks to Peace of Mind Dog Rescue
and the SPCA for Monterey County
for their leadership!
