Fire victims choose to stay with their pets

Opening the show, we will spend a half-hour talking about pets, their owners, and the wildland fires raging in Northern California. I am still (Friday afternoon) lining up guests, who will for sure include reporter April Ehrlich (shown) of Jefferson Public Radio, who did an excellent report for NPR’s “Morning Edition” on Wednesday.

She talked with owners who are choosing to stay with their pets, rather than in the relative comfort of an American Red Cross or other shelters.

I also plan to talk rescuers involved at the emergency shelters created for the animal victims as well as the rescues who are accepting animals to be housed away from the fires.
